February 20:  Black History month is observed at the West Los Angeles VA. Organized by New Directions, the event is intended to be an opportunity for veterans to interact with prominent political, religious and business leaders. Invited guests include District 9 City Councilwoman Jan Perry, Rev. Michael Beckwith of Agape Church, Rev. Norman Copeland of Ward A.M.E., Bishop Frederick Murphy of Brookins A.M.E. and Assemblyman Mark Ridley-Thomas. Invited organizations include: 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce and The New Leaders.
